Training and Growth Plans

One of the most important elements in a food business is the staff. After all, they are primarily responsible for the processes and operation of the venue and for bringing the experience to life.

To ensure that operations flow, the service is engaging and the business is consistent, it is necessary to train your team.  It is important to do this on an ongoing basis with the evolution in processes and operations in your venue.

The training plan needs to be personalised for the employee's level of experience, but consistent in its approach as you focus on the company's culture and method of workflow in the venue.
When you are hiring we always look to those who have the experience to add to our team, suggesting that we will save time when training.  But as we have learnt as an industry in the last couple of years, this is not always the case.

For example, as much as a barista has previous experience that might be compelling, you will still need to train them. Not for them to learn how to make coffee so much, but so that they can handle your coffee machine, get familiar with the type of grinder in your venue,  and understand the coffee beans that are served to your customers. These "teachings" are what make up the elements of your training.

We have found that focusing on a proper training path not only helps when you onboard new staff members into your team, but also when you redesign your operations, handling new equipment, or adding new products to your menu.
